Random Thoughts....

I watched a bit of the Grammy's last night. Was Whitney drunk or something? She seemed a bit off. And she also looks like she did something to her face. And why was she shwoing people her leg from the slit of her dress? Weird.

I love Coldplay's song "Vida la Viva", but someone needs to show that guy how to dress. He had weird looking pants on and his shirt was too short. I guess Gwyneth can't help him out too much because she often wears dresses that are too big for her on top.

I am really happy that Jennifer Hudson won a Grammy but I wasn't too impressed with her dress. It made me think of the outfits she wore during her American Idol days.

2-month-old boy died after one hour in car seat

Parents should not leave young infants sleeping in car seats for long periods of time, said a Quebec coroner who looked into the death of a two-month-old boy who suffocated when his mom placed him in a car seat after a restless night.

The recommendation comes two years after Montreal researchers warned very young babies are vulnerable to sudden infant death syndrome if they spend too much time in a seated position.
"The car seat is for the car. It is not for the bed or sleeping. It is for a car," said coroner Dr. Jacques Robinson on Wednesday. 'The head of the baby is heavier than the body. The neck muscle is not straight enough to let the neck rise. So, it falls.'—Dr. Jacques Robinson, Quebec coroner

The case that prompted the coroner's recommendation happened in February 2008 in Pointe-Claire on Montreal's west island. A mother woke at 3 a.m. to feed her baby who was crying. She put the baby back to sleep in his crib. At 6 a.m., the baby started crying again. The mother used a trick she had used before: she placed the baby in his car seat and then put the car seat in the crib. An hour later, the mother checked in on the baby and found that he wasn't breathing. His eyes were glassy and his skin had a white, waxy appearance. The mother called 911, and the parents started CPR on the baby. The baby was pronounced dead in hospital.

Robinson determined the baby died of asphyxiation due to an obstruction of his upper airway and blamed the baby's cramped posture in the seat for reducing his ability to breathe.
"The head of the baby is heavier than the body. The neck muscle is not straight enough to let the neck rise so it falls," said Robinson. In his report, Robinson notes there are risks to leaving a child sleeping in any seated position. He encourages parents to put their children to sleep horizontally at all times, preferably in a crib.

He also advises parents to move their babies frequently when they are in a car seat in a vehicle. He recommends parents take their children out of the seat every hour while on a long trip.
Researchers find dangers with sleeping while seated

The coroner's findings are echoed in a study conducted by researchers at the McGill University Health Centre. Researchers analyzed more than 500 sudden and unexpected deaths among babies under the age of one in Quebec between 1991 and 2000. Seventeen (3.3 per cent) of the deaths occurred in babies who were seated, mostly in car seats. The study was published in the online edition of the Archives of Disease in Childhood in 2007.

Fire at the Universal Studios Backlot (in Hollywood)

I was so sad when I saw on the news the other day about the fire that burned down and damaged many sets at the Universal Studios Hollywood. I was there vin 1997 and the backlot tour was one of my favorite things there. I got to see the famous New York Street, as well as Courthouse Square, which played a prominent role in "Back to the Future," "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Inherit the Wind." The flames even burned down the 30-foot animatronic King Kong, one of the most famous rides of the theme park.

Fire is nothing new to the studio. Seven significant blazes have hit the lot along the Cahuenga Pass in the Hollywood Hills since 1932. New York Street, in particular, burned to the ground in 1957 and 1990. Filmed in the area were the TV shows "Crossing Jordan," "Monk," "Seinfeld," "NYPD Blue," "Kojak" and the movies "Dragnet," "Bruce Almighty," "The Sting" and the "The Blues Brothers." The only television production affected by the weekens'a fire was CBS' "Ghost Whisperer," but a CBS Paramount spokeswoman said the damage to exterior sets would not delay the fourth season's premiere. Despite initial rumors, a rep for ABC's Desperate Housewives said that there is no damage to the Wisteria Lane set, which is also housed on the property.

''The New Beverly Hills 90210'' Trailer

Is it true? Is it really true??? A new 90210 is coming on tv this fall! It's a completely new cast, but I don't mind. If the show will be anything like it used to be, it will be worth watching!

Kelly Taylor will be back, so will Donna Martin Silver (both actors portraying these characters are signed on but not as series regulars). Rumor has it that even Steve Sanders is rallying to come back to the show. I am guessing the other characters will eventually show up at some point if the ratings are good and if the storyline is good enough as well. Apparently Jason Prisetley has already signed on to direct some episodes (just as he did with the old 90210 show).

Being a 90210 fan, I will tune in for sure, especially since it will be paired up on the same night on the CW network with another series I am currently watching (Gossip Girl).

NKOTB perform on the Today Show May 16/2008

Wow! I feel like I am 14 again!!!! When I heard they were getting back together, I thought it was just a hoax but then suddenly - out comes a new single and a tour!

I spent so much babysitting money on these guys back in the day: magazines, t-shirts, trading cards,.... You name it - I had it! My bedroom walls were wallpapered with their posters and I even had some on my ceiling (yes - there were some on my ceiling).

I actually really like this song. It's pretty catchy - a great summer song. And knowing me...I will probably buy their new CD when it comes out in September. I'm a 33 year old teenager at heart. :)

David Cook - Newest American Idol

I called it! I knew that this guy was the one a few weeks ago. He definitely has star quality and a presence on stage. He will have a successful career. Congrats on the win!!

Hallelujah

The song "Hallelujah" has been talked about quite a lot recently. This is mostly because it was recently sung by an American Idol contestant. I heard this morning on the radio that the song is actually the number one downloaded song on iTunes this week (pretty incredible!).

I have heard the song maybe 5 times in the last week and it was really bothering me because every time I heard it, I kept trying to remember which tv show this song had played in during the final scenes of a season finale. I finally found it - it was The O.C! Now my mind can be at ease....Here is the last scene sequence from Season 1 of The O.C, with the amazing "Hallelujah" song playing in the background. :)

Jamie Walters / Ray Pruit

Do you guys remember Jamie Walters? He played the character "Ray Pruit" in the 1990s FOX TV series Beverly Hills 90210. Let me refresh your memory.....

Ray was a construction worker whom Donna Martin met during a prank at California University. She became intrigued with him after she heard him playing his guitar and singing in his pick-up truck. They started to date, although the rest of the gang did not approve of him. Perhaps it was because he came from a poor family and helped his family sell pumpkins and x-mas trees in his spare time... After Donna would not sleep with him, he was frustrated and he slept with Valerie Malone behind Donna's back. He had a gig at The Peach Pit After Dark but eventually left because of Valerie's games. Ray eventually became physically abusive, having harmed Donna on several occasions. He eventually left the series but returned much later, briefly, having been rehabilitated and engaged to another woman.

Jamie Walters released a self-titled CD during his stint on 90210 and he sand many of his songs on the show. However, after his character became physically abusive, his career started to go downhill. Fans were so turned off by the direction of the show, and confused the character with the actor and he was eventually written off of the show.

Makes you wonder what would have happened to this guy if the 90210 writers had taken his character in a different direction?

Original First Dance!!!

For those of you who are big Dirty Dancing fans, look at what I found on You Tube!! A couple who got married in the UK decided to dance the final dance from the movie Dirty Dancing as their first dance. VERY ORIGINAL!! It made me laugh and I hope you get a good laugh too!

Christmas is Almost here!

The countdown is now on... just a few more days an Christmas will finally be here!! My Christmas tree is up, the decorations are out and the house looks so festive! It is definitely my favorite holiday!

One of my favorite things to do during the holidays is watch some great feel-good movies. Here are a few of my favorites that I watch during this time of year:

- Die Hard 1 and 2 (starring Bruce Willis)
- The Sound of Music (starring Julie Andrews) - I don't know why this is a holiday classic, but it somehow always plays on TV this time of year...

August Rush

This looks like a movie that may become a "Kawi Movie"!! Another movie to add to my 'must-see' list.

Disney's Enchanted

In an animated fairy tale world, a young girl meets and falls in love with the handsome prince of her dreams. News of this romance upsets the prince's mother, the evil queen, who uses her black magic to send the girl hurtling out of the animated world into the one place in the universe where there is no true love: modern day Manhattan. The now-real girl has to survive in New York City and find her way home again to her true love.

I saw this movie preview yesterday and my daughter said : I want to see that, Maman!! I was quite pleased because it is something that I would like to see too! It is definitely a "Kawi Movie".

Movies with "real" people

My 4 year old suddenly wants to watch movies with "real people" in them and does not want to watch as many cartoon movies these days. I think the movies Freaky Friday and Honey I Shrunk the Kids have played maybe 20 times each in the last month in my house!! She is reciting lines from the movies and even sings along with the songs. These are her favorite lines:

From Honey I Shrunk the Kids: "I get it, french class!!!!"

Although I have a wide selection of movies in my home, I do not have many movies for my daughter to watch that do not have animated characters.

Corey Haim Interview from Oracle.com

I used to buy all of those TeenBeat and Bop magazines back in the 80s, mostly to get the latest posters and put them up on my bedroom walls. A favorite actor of mine was Corey Haim. He's back in the entertainment news again because of his new show called "The Two Coreys" on A&E. Here is a copy of an interview I found online that I enjoyed reading. Corey Haim needs no introduction, unless you were born post-1990 and haven't been enlightened about the standout decade preceding your existence. For those who missed the "Me Decade," and all the trappings of big hair and over-the-top neon fashion, Corey Haim is a Canadian actor who became a teen idol for millions of young, heavily-hairsprayed girls, and arguably as popular as Pac-Man, Rubik's Cube and Rayban sunglasses. He got his breakout leading role in the 1986 film Lucas and went on to a large role in the cult classic The Lost Boys, which coincided with the beginning of a 20-year friendship and collaboration with his namesake Corey Feldman. While the 80s were a golden era for Haim, he fell on hard times in the 90s, as he began to battle drug and alcohol addiction. Haim is now clean and co-starring in The Two Coreys, and he says the world hasn't seen anything yet. He's just received news he'll be reprising his role in Lost Boys 2. Here is his story, 20 years after his Golden Age.

Boom! Lost Boys 2 - We’re filming in one week. I can’t tell you the details of the project - Obviously it’s vampires, but it’s a lot more than that, and it’s really exciting.
Right now I’m living wherever I feel comfortable. At this moment, it’s New York, which I call Gotham City. I swear to God I saw The Hulk, Batman and Spider-Man fighting on a building last night.

The Two Coreys shot in Vancouver, and I feel comfortable there too. I’m Canadian, so I’ve been going there all my life anyway. It’s like a second home for me. It feels like a mini-Los Angeles. A lot of people say “It’s boring,” and I’m like, “It’s not boring dude, it’s ‘The Couv!’” But that’s just me.

Obviously when people are reminiscing about the 80s, I tend to come to mind. If I was trying to capture it in a nutshell, I’d have to say it was just a really busy time for me. I was working, working, working all the time, thank God.

I’d come to Los Angeles from Toronto, which was a trip. I made great friends, like Corey Feldman. I listened to great music, like Phil Collins. I’ve been independent since I was 10, years old. The 80s were the 80s; it was my time, and the best time of my life.

Movies for teenagers really haven’t changed all that much since those days. Nowadays, there are more special effects and bigger budgets, and people are trying to dig deeper and deeper into the characters in movies. This is just my own personal opinion, but I think they’re running out of ideas for movies, to be honest with you. But I do think one out of every three movies that come out is really amazing.

While the special effects are even more impressive these days, I actually prefer movies without special effects because it’s raw. For a movie like Lost Boys 2, special effects are the bomb – you come in and do what you do, and then they add the special effects later. When you see the finished product, it’s like “No way man!”…it’s so cool. I just can’t wait to see the prop room...

I knew I wanted to act ever since I was about eight years old and my mom and my sister won a refrigerator in a cook off on this TV show called ‘Just Like Mom.’ They took head shots of my sister, and I was like, “But what about me?” I joined an agency in Toronto and I flew out to New York on a Friday with one other kid from my agency and got a part. The rest is history.

I think it’s fair to say that Lucas was a breakout role for me. I’d had a meeting at Rob Reiner’s house and had the choice of whether to do Lucas or Stand By Me, in - rest in peace - River Pheonix’s part.

I think everything is meant to be, my role in Lucas included. Lucas taught me what an ensemble cast is and what a solo is, and I really started to learn about the industry. I really liked the script, and I liked playing a biography, so to speak, of a life.

To be honest, at first it was a tough shoot. The movie Lucas is about a nerdy high school kid who is bullied a lot, so I was constantly getting pushed into a corner and beaten up. It was my first time playing somebody’s life story, but after the second week, it was just like a cakewalk. I discovered I’m a dramatic actor, although I do like to mix drama with comedy.
Things started to become overwhelming right after Lost Boys. We were dealing with a $42-million budget, filming next to Lethal Weapon…I could buy any car I wanted to and was working with older people. I started to get out of control of myself and became my own death sentence. Thank God I was able to right myself, with a lot of support from my family, through an intervention. I sought help, and I’m currently attending meetings as well.
I would not change anything from the past, except maybe the hurt I caused my mom and my dad. I would just take the hurt away. You know, the hurt that came from them always expecting the call: “Your son is dead.”

Some of the troubles I had are universal and timeless, and I see a lot of young stars repeating some of my mistakes. If I could give some advice to people like Lindsay Lohan, it would be: Get off now. Get off right now, because it’s an expensive habit. It’s not good at all. It’s a long process getting clean and sober, so they should just stay away from that sh*t.

When I first met Corey Feldman, I had no idea that we’d be tied for life. I called him and left him a message, saying, “I thought you were great in The Gremlins. My name’s Corey, your name’s Corey…we should hang out.” Him and I and our fathers all went to Venice Beach and played football, and we've shared a path ever since.

Although people associate us as a unit, we’re very, very, very different in every way. I try to be as real as possible and sometimes I catch him acting and not being real. Sometimes he catches me not doing what I need to do. We watch out for each other because we’re like brothers.

We decided to step back in the limelight with The Two Coreys recently because the time was right. It’s been years and years and years since we worked together. We’ve received every offer under the sun for reality series the past 12 to 15 years. The Two Coreys gave us an opportunity to be executive producers, developers, writers and stars, so it was great.
We got to go on Larry King Live to promote the show, so that was a trip. Over the years, I’ve been asked a million questions, many of them a number of times over again. There’s not much I won’t talk about, and I enjoy talking about the good times. If there’s one thing people may not know about me after all this time, it’s that I’m very sensitive to stuff. People think I’m like a hard ass, but I’m not.

I’m keeping my head on straight and being open to love. Obviously I want to find love, just like anybody. Why is Corey Feldman happily married and I’m not? Well, I’m not sure that he is. I hope he is. I absolutely want to be married or in a committed partnership one day. Oh yeah.

You know what, I really don’t know why some, like River Pheonix, didn’t make it and I did. I really didn’t know River that well. I just think it was just the cough syrup mixed with the heroin…you know, the drugs. The same could have happened to me. I was fortunate to survive all that I put my body through. It’s up to God. I’m not sure why I’m still here, but I’m still here, and I‘m happy.

The world ain’t seen nothing yet. It can expect a lot more happiness and hopefully great, great acting.

Florist Reveals Married Man's Infidelity

I heard about this story by watching "The Today Show" the other day and it made me laugh.....


A married man is suing an online florist for $1.15 million after it revealed his infidelity to his wife. Leroy Greer of Missouri City asked 1-800-Flowers to send a dozen red roses to his mistress and to keep the order private by not mailing the transaction to his home or office. However, months later, 1-800-Flowers sent a thank-you card to Mr Greer's home.
Mr Greer's wife called the business for proof of purchase. 1-800-Flowers faxed her proof of Mr Greer's order of flowers for his mistress. The fax included Mr Greer's card message which read: "Just wanted to say I love you and you mean the world to me! Leroy". His wife has filed for divorce.
